Antifreeze leaks out of Maxwedge Motor...Need help!

I have a maxwedge motor 440 block with 1963 cross-ram 750 carbs and manifold and on this motor are the original heads from a maxwedge 426. They are the kind where the valve covers have a four bolt pattern to fit on the head.

Here is my question, when I remove the headers all the antifreeze leaks out of the engine. I am told this is normal. Does anyone know how long this design was in production where the anti-freeze leaks out? Was there a year where this didn't happen? Do the four bolt heads have anything to do with being a maxwedge motor?

Thanks to everyone for your help!

So far as I know, all Mopar wedge heads, both small and B / RB, have at least some studs "into the water jacket."

I would stud them with some studs you can buy at any good auto store and double wrap the end of the studs that enter the water jacket with teflon tape. Also to throw a wrench in there I had to put pipe dope on every bolt entering my buddies 440 heads. Everyone of them went into the water jacket. Wish I remember the casting number of those heads.
