A-body exhaust 383
A-body exhaust 383
I replaced the exhaust on my 1968 383 Dart Gts with a stock system from Classic Exhaust Systems in Ohio. The order conversation by me was explicit, I wanted a
complete factory appearing system. I was asked if I wanted "tips". I stated Yes, I want everything, including tips. I received my order with an invoice stating tips but without tips.
I contacted them, and I was told the pipes were prepared for tips only. Ok, maybe a misunderstanding, but it gets better. I began installing the new system from Classic only to find the left side header
pipe was too long. The header pipe also had bends that I have no idea why. I had to cut the header pipe to fit the muffler in place. After that struggle, I removed my old factory tips and attempted to install them
on the tailpipes that were supposedly ready for tips. The tips were the same size, making it impossible to install without expanding and heating with a torch.
A call to Classic was met with a batch of excuses. I was told the left side might need to be cut. "Oh, didn't I say that?". As far as the tips on the tailpipe measuring the same size as the chrome tips, I was met with
"That could be a problem if using factory tips."
Would I have bought this system from them if it needed modification? The answer is no. A more in-depth explanation of what I was getting and what was required of me would've been helpful.

Wow.... That is just not rite.... Most people at this point would be screwed and not know what or how to get around this problem !!!!
Luckle your in a good position to handle it !!!
This is a lot of the problem with Mopar people.... Its so hard to find good quality and properly made items of any sort.... Lots of just half Azz stuff out there.
People find it so hard to build a Mopar in the beginning that they just give up !!!! It takes years of searching for products and part at are just stuffed away in a corner some place...
Anyways, Hope you got it all fit together and sorry for the butt heads that have steered you wrong..
I know ill make a note to not buy from them if at all possible ....
Cheers and hope it sounds good...
