Carb problem
I'm running a 750 Edelbrock on my 440. When I make a turn, it will backfire through the carb. I was sure it was a float level problem. I have checked the level twice and the second time I adjusted it so the fuel level in the bowl would be slightly lower than specs. The results were the same. It happens when leaving from a stop and making a turn. More often its a left turn. Is there something else in the carb that would cause this? The carb performs great otherwise.

What do the plugs look like ?? It could be running lean, lowering the float level could make it worst. Does it happen when steady throttle is given or when you put your foot into it ??

Try running a rubber hose between the two bowl vents under the air filter and cut a small hole in the top of it. I've seen this on a drag car and this helped, something to do with fuel slosh. Try it, it's cheap. Let me know if it works.

I'll try our suggestions. It does not seem to be running too lean. The plugs and exhaust don't indicate lean running. It runs great except for the backfire. It does not happen everytime and if I am carefull I can catch it before it stalls.

i have the 650 on my small blck when i make low speed left turn it sputters kind of acts like power valve is late to open i but i get blue smoke out of the right side exhaust i think its fuel sloshing into right side of carb and running down the right side of the manifold under power i dont have this problem was thinking on slightly streaching power vale springs {slightly}
