Carter BBD seprating bowl from throttle body

This thread is a little random. I'm not working on this carb just trying to recall some information.

I could of swore I read somewhere online awhile back that you should not separate the bowl and throttle body on a Carter BBD because the two parts where put together and then additional machining took place during manufacturing. If you took them apart one would have trouble lining up holes or something. I can't find it and it's bugging me. I really should utilize bookmarks more often.

However, doing my search just now, I can find replace gasket that go between those two parts so, maybe it isn't true.

Has anyone here heard something like I've described?

Never heard that about machining? I'm sure there are carb kits out there for your carb. It's just that the gasket is not available separately

Yeah, I did some more searching today and I don't think the information I'm looking for is true.

I found plenty of forum posts on rebuilding the bbd that mentions no such warnings.

Either what I read was wrong or I got it mixed up from one of my "research marathons".

Thanks
