Hi everyone. I have a boat with dual Chrysler 360s. The boat is 1974, but the engines were replaced in the late 80's. One engine has a coolant leak that appears to be coming from this cover. I removed it and was surprised that there is no gasket! Should there be one? Does coolant even flow through this manifold? Or is the leak elsewhere (it looks like the leak could also be just to the right of that cover, maybe from the intake manifold gasket) What are the two passages under the cover? Air? Coolant? One of each? What's the cover for?

That is the a EGR port for Emissions. It use t have an EGR valve mounted at that point.... The cover is the EGR delete plate... EGR not needed in you application....
Now for you issue of the water in that area.... (Providing water is not splashing from elsewhere)
If water is coming out of that plate or the valley port of that area... The engine cylinder is cracked into a water jacket and will need to be replaced.
So you need to clean and verify that the water is truly coming from that area from the inside out... and not just something running down the cover of the engine dripping onto it leaving it wet.

Thanks so much! Yes, that totally makes sense. I think the leak isn't coming from that cover, but instead is from the manifold gasket. I'll reinstall that cover and clean up the area and verify that. Do I need to install a gasket on that cover? There wasn't one when I removed it.

Yes and gasket would be best.... Or just make one yourself out of some flat gasket material and a razor blade....
FYI... The intake manifold only has water jackets in the 4 corners... Nothing in the center area to leak from... Just a heads up....
