How hard would it be to drop a 440 in a 1966 Plymouth Fury III, and what would it entail?

 

What is in there right now?

You'll need a matching tranny, torsion bars if the car had a small block, radiator, crossmember (maybe - That's all that I can think of for some reason).

 

Very easy to do . You need a motor and a BB trans, radiator maybe a driveshaft- depends on what trans it currently has... They were available with a BB engine. You can try and find the motor mounts at the junk yard or contact Schumacher services. www.engine-swaps.com for a complete motor mount kit. You can re use the trans mount.

 

I have a poly 318 in it, I don't want to swap it because its small but aftermarket parts are hard(and expensive) to come by. And one of my friends has a 440 with a 727 Torqueflight trans. I have already started looking for parts for the 440 and its much cheaper.

 

440/727 combos (are relatively cheap from motorhomes and) can be built up quite a bit. I say go for it.
