Holley 1920 slant six problems

Hey guys, i have a 225 / with a holley 1920 and i was having problems with it anytime the pedal was pushed any amount, had to pump it quickly to get going or even speed up 5 miles an hour, although it idled great and ran strong at full throttle, just nothing inbetween. Put some fuel system cleaner in it and now I have a new problem. the carburator seems to be building pressure in the fuel bowl so much so that it actually broke a hole in the carb housing on the backside of the bowl vent valve and spewed gas like crazy. I epoxied the hole shut and it seems to be holding there but now it seems to be flooding itself at idle. the idle mix screw is maybe half to one turn out but after its warm and about 30 seconds at idle, it dies and fuel just starts pouring gas down the intake. the car has a stock fuel pump so it doesn't pump gas when its off and the float is adjusted as it should be with a new fuel flow needle from my carb kit. i've never seen a carb with a non-electric pump flood an engine after it turns off. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am looking to build an intake and header with a two barrel and a 2.2L turbo for the car but I cant yet and my fuel milage has about cut in half from this problem.

This boiling over is being caused by the ethanol in the fuel.
fuel injected cars don't have this issue but carburetors do, it's something that we will have to get use to unless you can find real fuel any where.
Heat shields and thermal insulated base gasket will help but the fuel is still garbage.

Great news, fixed the problem. I put a rebuild kit on it already but figured I needed to take it apart again to check the internals, turns out i was in a time crunch the first time and installed the fuel bowl needle backwards. Anyways, thanks.
