Holley Carb trouble

Hey guys I recently bought a 1966 Belvedere with a 318 poly 2bbl. It came with an old Stromberg carb and I wanted something more modern so I picked up a Holley 2245 for free. The problem is that the top of the carb neck is 4 1/4" and the original air cleaner is 2 5/8". Is there an adapter for this? I am willing to maybe buy a 5 1/8" air cleaner but is there an adapter for that size either? Possibly modding another old 2 bbl air cleaner I have down my basement. Thanks, Nick.

I'd think the easy way out of this would be to just find an air filter off a 70's Dodge pu. I don't remember if half tons had all the heated snorkel/ smog junk, but a 3/4 ton probably did not

I would look for any 1976 through 1989 two barrel air cleaner off of a two barrel carb. Not the ones with the lean burn computer on the side.

Ok, yeah that's what I had in mind too. I was having trouble even finding one.

I think I have a 1968 two barrel air cleaner I could sell you cheap.

OK, so my dad found a piece of plastic plumbing pipe that was the exact size. We cut it down so it wasn't sticking up so high and it fit perfectly. This then brought me to the next problem when trying to fit the new carb on the manifold. The old stromberg carb mounted onto studs that are too close together compared to the new carb. The studs are about 1/8" each too far in and there is not enough metal to drill and tap new holes in the manifold. I was wondering maybe if there was an adapter anywhere that would fit. I've tried looking everywhere I could think of but to no avail. I took some measurements from each of the two carb gaskets from hole to hole.

(stock) Stromberg Gasket: 3 1/4" x 1 7/8"

Holley Gasket: 3 5/8" x 1 15/16"

The width measurement could be made to work, I could just drill the carb and gasket mounting holes out a little bit but the length measurement being 3/8" off is pretty drastic.

I doubt you will find one with the dimensions as close as they are.... Have you checked the Holley base to see if you can elongate the holes to match the studs? or is there not enough material to do that? 2bbl to 2bbl is usually like from the carter/rochester line to the holley line of carbs... may have to try to make your own adapter to make it work....
