Can someone help me identify this engine the guy selling says he doesn't know if it's a 318 or a 360 but I suspect it to be a 318.

Chances are 318. What's it in?

A 66 Charger, I'm pretty sure it's a LA Small Block but I'm not sure what displacement.

I found this online:

There is a casting number on the side of the block behind the starter that will look something like this XXXXXXXX-318-XX. The displacement is the 3 numbers between the 2 dashes, i.e. 273, 318, 340, 360. Chances are you have a 318 since they were far from gutless, even in the '70s. Hope this helps.

No 360's in '66 but it could be with all the 318 dressings that are on it now. When you go under go in with a can off brake clean, eye protection and a small stiff wire brush to find that number, it's big enough you'll find it easy.

true. the big block was 361... it's a 318 almost for sure if it's the original.
