New to Forum Doing a 440 Build For Fun!
Hi, I am brand new to the forum and im really excited to be here finally! It has always been a dream of mine to build a mopar motor ive had several but never got into the building side. So for my 40th Bday my wife got me a 440 and i am just going through now itemizing what i have what ill need and first steps. My first bit of reasearch has been figuring out the block and its origins. Can anyone on here help me to verify / confirm i have the right info. See photos. Here is what i can tell from the info i found. Please keep in mind this is block only.
Cast Block Numbers. 10.25.73, 3698830-440-6 Pic Attached
Stamped Block Numbers. 4T 440 T E HP, 11122322 X CROSS
Best I can tell. 4T = 1974, 440 = Assuming Cubic Inches, E = Cast Crank Shaft, H = Standard 4bbl? P = Premium Fuel Recommended? or is it HP High Performance? Maltese Cross and X Crank - .010?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am looking to build a fun not to wild motor for a future car or truck to be chosen later. 100% focus on motor for the next few years. She got me the block, two sets of heads, the cast crank, pistons,4bbl intake and waterpump. PS I was told this came out of a truck.
Also i am very handy ive restored outboards, chainsaws, a car etc. never got this deep into an engine. Is it practical to think i could build a nice driving engine with the help of a machine shop for the big stuff and i do the rest? Thanks!
Thanks so much!

Any idea on the vehicle it will be going into? Are you planning on using a stick or automatic? There are plenty of variables when it comes to the way you build the engine, which are all decided by vehicle specifics. Cams are one of these areas alone, intakes are another. Are you planning on running pump fuel?
