Small block to Big Block Change Over

I have a 74duster with a 318 SB and am concidering going to a 383 or 440 with a 727 Trans........ What troubles will I face with the motor fitting , The Trans and putting Headers on also....... I also have power steering so need to know if the one off the 318 will work also......Someone said that I might have to change the K Member but they wasnt sure...... I could use your Help !!!!!!

It is doable. Need motor mounts from Shumacher , new radiator, BB 727 trans, drive shaft, maybe the rear end ? all the misc eng brackets. Power steering is the same regardless of engine. Headers - VERY close fit A late 400 would be a better fit

Tvlynn is right on what you need, you can use the same k-member with the Schumacher motor mounts plus their torque strap is a good idea. Check the trunk floor for rust above the spring perches, dusters like to rust there. I have seen the springs come right thru the trunk floor!

Most of the time you can use it as is. Sometimes it may be necessary to trim the K member and box it in for oil pump / oil pan clearance.
