Valve lash adjustment 318 poly

I have just inherited the job of reassembling the engine in a 1966 Dodge Cornet 440 with a 318 poly engine, supposedly a factory reman. I was told this engine has solid lifters, upon trying an initial static adjustment the rockers never have any slack ( they seem to spring pressure ) like a hydraulic lifters. This is the first time I have ever seen anything like this, but my experience is limited to the 383, 440 engines and the old 315 truck engines.
If this engine has hyd. lifters what are my options since it does have adj. rocker arms ?
