Valve lash adjustment 318 poly
I inherited the task of finishing an rebuild on a 1966 Dodge 318 poly, (adjusting and reassembling) When attempting an initial static valve adjustment I found that when I backed the adjuster off there was spring tension on the rocker arm, Thinking I had Hydraulic
Lifters I removed the intake manifold and found this to be the case.
My question is can this engine be used with Hyd. lifters or will it damage the cam?

Thank you Bob
I just talked to the guy that started the job, He is telling my the cam is not stock and the cam and lifters were ordered for the engine.
So I'M hoping I can adjust the valves like any other Hyd. lifter.
Man I wish this was a 383 or 440 lol.

Ok... Thats good... Then I think I would just remove the seated lash and then give them all about 1/2 turn and lock them down. That should set the lifter plunger about rite i think. I would say also reset them all after the cam break in just to be safe. Unless it all sounds good at cold start up and while idling warm? them I myself would call it good to go!! What are your thoughts?

To Racer Hog or anyone who can help
I finally got the whole story, The cam was replaced with and had lifters installed at the same time, I tried. adjusting as you stated but the adjusters are worn out and will not stay set.
So I am looking for a set of 1968 rocker arms and push rods.

I the mean time.... This I will get some heat for saying this !!!! .... But we have used Teflon Tape in the past to help the adjuster screws while waiting on parts.. Remove all the screws and wrap them with the tape.. Just food for thought...

I think I'd pass on that deal Bob, shut it off and order some parts.
