Weight of a 318?

Does anyone can guess what my Dodge 318 engine weigh? I think there is an leaks in one cylinder. One of the spark plug was really soaked with oil. So if this is so, I thought buying a engine holder, dismantle the engine and check.. (Itīs an 318 on a Dodge Pioneer from 1961)..

If you're asking so you can get a stand that will suport the weight, go with 500 pounds. Very few car engines weigh more than that.

Get an engine stand that can handle 1250 lbs. I have one and had a fully dressed 383 sitting on it and it was still leaning.

The 4 leg stands are better. Much more stable. BEFORE doing anything I would clean the engine and Check the valve covers for leaks. It may be a simple repair.. replacing the cover gasket

Could be your valve seals if you found it while it was cold. If you first start your engine up cold and blows white smoke the stops it's you valve seals. If you see white smoke all the time then it's your piston rings.

False information is false.

White smoke is water or coolant. Head gasket, cracked block or head, hold in cylinder..

Blue smoke is oil... If the plugs are fouled with wet oil, then you have leaking valve cover or valve guides or seals.
