1976 W 200 transmission questions?

Hey all. I just looked at a 1976 W200 3/4 ton truck with a 400 ci. Manual 4 speed and I'm not sure which transmission it is and how the 4wd works. There are no hub locks and the 4wd indicator had N, low and low lock. And high and high lock? Does that mean it's full time 4wd ? I've never seen full time 4wd with a manual transmission? Also the guy said the numbers match with engine but everything I've seen on VIN identification that it's the 4 th character in the VIN to identify? Any help would be awesome thanks
