Transmission issue A518
1994 B250 conversion can, 135,000 miles.
last night, in the middle of a long drive, it seemed to lose power, or rather slow down like the brakes were on or the motor was locking up. I pulled it off the road.
I thought I lost the transmission at first. I pulled off again and as soon as I got up to about 34 mph, the same thing happened....it slowed abruptly, then I’d flip it up into neutral and coast to the side of the road.
Kept happening, was gonna limp home under 30 but then I thought I’d de activate the overdrive..... then it acted fine except no overdrive of course. I could do 60 without the overdrive so I made it home just fine. There is no slippage and it works well as long as I keep the overdrive defeated with the switch.
So so right where it would shift into third is when it acts crazy....but again it doesn’t happen with the OD switched off. What the heck? I’m thinking it’s a problem with the lockup feature, like its trying to lock at the wrong time.....maybe defeating the OD takes the lockup function down as well... any ideas?
