So everybody i have a question that i can not find the answer to. I have a 76 3/4 ton powerwagon that im wanting to put a set of dana 60 front and rear axle assemblies out of a 84 single wheel one ton chevy under. Im wondering will they fit with minimal complications.I also have a big block 413 in this truck that i just adapted to a chevy muncie 4speed manual trans with a 205 transfercase so that i can get the full part time affect instead of a full time set up. I have no leads on a 80-93 dodge because everybody wants them around me and wont salvage any parts.

 

if i remember correctly the dana 60 axle's where put in all three mopar ford chevy.
if any mod's will be the drive shaft length's...

The D60 front axles are the same between the dodge and chevy versions. Both are low pinion, passenger side drop, king pin joints instead of ball joints. Axle shafts, housings, hubs, knuckles, bearings, spring perch widths are all the same. The Ford D60 front is a driver side drop, high pinion and uses different knuckles, hubs, axle shafts, bearings, etc...

The rear axle of that 84 Chevy will probably be a 14B though, not a D60 (see pic of diff covers below to tell the difference). Chevy stopped using the D60 as a rear axle in their trucks in the 70s (maybe earlier). The spring perch widths and shock mount locations are going to be different either way though between the axles and makes.

If I were you, I'd look for a matching set of axles out of a dodge ambulance or 1 ton truck as they will most likely be D60 front and D70 rear with 4.88 gears. The D70 is stronger than the 14B (which is stronger than the D60) and the 4.88 gears will allow the motor to turn the tires easier.

 

This truck has the ball joint spendles no king pins. But has the sealed hubs ao no bolt on lock outs. Havent been able to find a four speed manual with lock outs in a dodge around my area. So going to try the build this spring with crazy fabrication measures

That sounes like the typical D44 of a 3/4 ton truck. Chevy D60 front will fit as well and usually can be had for cheaper - FYI. Unless of course you want to keep it all Dodge which I wouldn't blame you.

 

Ya i would like to keep it all dodge but since dodge is so hard to find and chevy is everywhere. Im gna mix match parts. The trans is a chevy trans
