Converter Shield

I noticed on alot of these builds that are for sale on ebay and others..When they show picture of the underside of the car alot of the Converter Shields were missing...So I just thought it was because you cant get them anymore...So I never bothered to look and made one out of aluminum, put it on and it rubbed on the converter bolts it didnt rub long because the bolts chewed off what needed to trimmed...I didnt even hear it rubbing but when I pulled the transmisson the other day it was to my surprise it was worn through...Well just for giggles I was getting my car fixed today (Warranty work) and I asked a friend of mine in the parts department if the shield was still available he asked what year and I told him and he laughed...I said no really..He laughed again...He looked and said we dont have books that go back that far...I said what is the oldest book you have?? he said 1978..I said look it up for that year then..He did and guess what it is still available and it went back to before my year...$30 and it will be here tomorrow. So the big question is if you are going to do a full restro.and then sell the car WHY would you not put the shield on to make it a finished job for $30??????????I dont get it...Bill:
