So on my 1999 Dodge ram 1500 4wd with 5.9l v8 magnum and the 46re transmission, I have been fighting this transmission for a year. Finally rebuilding the whole sand thing but.... The front clutch pack will NOT come of the shaft. I got all the clips, rings, etc off of it, but it won't budge. The rear clutch friction plates were burnt down to metal on metal, which might have something to do with my problem. I've tried penatrant, heat, a shop press, a sledge hammer. From what I can find, my next option is to cut the housing off the shaft. I've dumped well over 2 grand into this damaged thing, and I'm trying to limit any more expenses. Any ideas??
Thanks

Sounds like it welded itself to the shaft..... I think your just going to have to find some used parts or get some up graded ones....
So many issues with these trans... Wish a good old 727 would just fit...
Sorry Cheers

Buy another transmission either one that is working or one that needs a rebuild, I would rebuild anyway but that’s where you’re at.
