Lower rpms at Freeway Speed for Val. 273

My '65 Valiant 273 convertible is perfect in every way but one. At freeway speeds the rpms seem really high. It's really quick off the line, but I am a cruiser not a racer. Did a previous owner install a high rpm differential? Or is stock like this? More importantly, (1) Can I install a differential that gives a lower rpm to all gears? (2) Is there an automatic transmission that will provide 4 or 5 gears and therefore a lower rpm for freeway speeds? (3) Will 17 or 18 inch tires help very much? I'm not a gear-head, but I love this car (except at 70mph) and want to take some trips in it while I can (just turned age 78). Can anyone advise? Thanks -- Gary

Check with Toms Differentials in Paramount and or Performance Gear in Azusa to see if they can re-gear it for you to like a 2.73 ratio...
