How do you remove the speedo cable from the transmission? I have a 1977 Dodge 727. It has a very large holding devise (1 1/2") in the tranny that has the cable going into it that is offset. Do i have to get that cable in the correct position then pull or pry it out?

 

Is this "Ratio Reducer" Or "Transducer" rite at the trans?
Most of the time, they put them in line with another cable....

If its the one rite at the trans.... Yes... Remove the small bolt and retainer... (Mark it before pulling it !!!! Or you will surely get it clocked wrong going back in)... After removing the bolt and clip, you can pry it out.

It's good to hear from you. OK I removed the retainer, pryed it out (without marking it (of course)) and then proceeded to the store with the end in hand. NOW, trying to match a '77 tranny end to a 68 F100 end is another story. We got something going and now I have to wait until Friday to see what I get. I'll be sure and let you know because it will be up to you to get that "off centered" thing back into the proper place. Soon stand by Sailor.

I got it, index mark goes down in accordance to the tooth count. Thank you very much. Now I'll have to go out and check to see if mine has marks. Oh well, see you in the emails.

 

Looking for some help for my 78-82 727 trans in my 65 plymouth sport fury.
Bought trans and took it to get rebuilt. Did not come with speedometer cable housing or gear. Got trans back and bought housing and gear, but can't get gears to match up. Tried all positions with housing, and still no contact.
Any help information would be greatly appreciated.

I put a frez plug in the speedometer drive and I have for thirty years, who gives a xxxx how fast your going!

Gary, You need the rite Speedo Adapter to make it mesh... Check the Cope "CRT" or A&A transmission catalog for what you need.

My 1978 Dodge B300 needs a new speedometer cable.
Parts guy claims there are three sizes.
I like to pick up a new cable but my Dodge is up north and cannot check the cables length size at this time.
I'm thinking if I picked up the biggest size of the three it would work ok.
Would this be the right assumption?
