Unhappy brake light issues

Hi. i recently bought a 71' dart. some of the lights were not working like the parking lights. Easy fix. it was the flasher. however, my 4ways dont work. i replaced the flasher for that and nothing happened.so i returned it. ill try a differebt one. its not a huge deal to me yet. the big problem im having is my brake lights dont come on. the brake work fine. was told that they have been resently serviced. i changed the brake switch and checked the fuses, still no change. tried a different switch and nothing. i need help!

Hello Joegood!!
There are two flashers on your car, one for the turn signals and the other for the emergency flashers. It sounds like you found both by your post. You said the flasher fixed the parking lights. I wouldn't think that should have done it unless the contact was open on the flasher. With the 2 wires disconnected from the brake switch by jumping them do the brake lights come on. Also check for continuity at the switch wires. The bulbs should be an 1157 style with 2 contacts at the bulb base. One for running lights and one for turn flasher and braking lights. If you in fact have the correct bulbs, they could be bad. Lastly, these older cars often required the car to be running in order to generate enough power to activate the turn signals. My 68 is one of them.

Also Check the inputs and outputs of the Turn Signal Switch, Most of those functions run through the switch...
