66 New Yorker Electronic Ignition

Hey there! Last summer I picked up a 66 New Yorker in very good shape but it needs a new distributor so I opted to change it directly to electronic ignition right off the bat. I’m having some trouble locating my run and start wires as I’m very new to mopars and google searches are giving me less than optimal results. With my kit the 440-428 I picked up from summit racing it comes with an instruction manual which for the most part I understand. But I’m not sure about my start and run wires. Also it doesn’t specify if I’m supposed to splice them into what is already on there or if I am supposed to replace what is currently plugged into those terminals. Attached is a photo of how it sits and I have figured out it’s on the far right in this photo. If anyone has done this exact kit before it would be greatly appreciated if you helped me out! Thank you for your time!

Okay thank you, but I’m also a little confused with this because there are two wires there already. Am I putting all 3 (blue from ecu, with both other wires already connected) to the ballast or am I supposed to get rid of one of these wires? I’ll attach a closer photo of the ballast so you can see. The blue and white wire to my knowledge is the one that is supposed to get spliced in the with blue but I’m curious as to what to do with that third greyish wire

I think the "grayish" / Brown wire goes to the Wiper Switch. you can leave it alone, (as long as it is getting 12 volts with the key on..)

So... If I recall correctly

1. DK Blue w/Tracer goes to the alternator Regulator
1.Dark Blue Solid goes to the ignition coil.
1.Dark Blue w/Tracer goes to the ignition Switch
1. Brown goes to the wiper switch

Thank you very much! I’m going to try to wire it tomorrow

This is for a 71 Dart, but it has the colors and where they go.

Thanks

Thanks, I have seen that diagram, and have the one that came with the kit, but have the same problem as what started this thread. I have a 66 New Yorker, and the colors don't match.

Well... not that they don't match, but there are a lot of dark blue wires. Do I replace the existing ballast with the new one in the kit? Also, does the blue wire connect to the ballast end with the 2 existing blue wires, or the end with the blue wire and the grayish brown wire? Which side is "Run" and which side is "Start"?

I may have come in during the middle of the movie. The existing ballast can go in either way.

Just remember that run goes through the ballast and start bypasses.
