Denso Alternator on 440 Big Block Mopar

Is anyone using a Denso alternator on a big block Mopar? If so, which one are you using and which brackets worked for you? Also, externally regulated or internally? Thanks alot!!!!

Were you using 3 wire or 1 wire alternator? If it was 3 wire, which one?

No matter which one you use you need to eliminate it going though the alt gauge

Mid 90s alt is too deep for stock location (3/4 ton anyway), at this point I lost interest. Curious if the stock regulator would work with it.

I just bought myself a Denso 210 0138. I have not installed but the mounting ears do not look much different than stock. It might be that the factory brackets will work. Some mods may be necessary. ?

I think Jegs sales a Denso Mounting kit for the big block Mopars....
If your trying to mount it to a front motor plate, thats a little harder, takes some fab work...

I now have the Denso mounted and the factory alternator brackets work great! The alternator is all the way out on the lower adjusting bracket and belt is tight for now but a shorter belt might be needed later. I have upgraded wiring and ammeter is bypassed. This thing charges like no other! 14.2 at idle with all things powered up including headlight on bright! It is a wonderful upgrade!!!

One 'joint' you can use for occasional free photo posting is

http://tinypic.com/

Sometimes there is, sometimes not, a "nag" screen. Hit browse, which opens your computer, select the location and file you want, and upload

I don't remember if it automatically resizes or not, most websites limit you to 600X......pixels or 800X.... pixels.

Your through bolt is going to BREAK THE ALTERNATOR. There MUST be a spacer between the two alternator ears to take up that space and give something "solid" for the bolt to tighten against

The shiny split spacer is designed to move a tiny bit upon tightening the bolt so that "things" equalize and no strain is placed between the two ears. So once you get belt alignment "happy," and everything lined up to suit, you need to measure that space, and fabricate a spacer. With no idea of what that might be, you may or may not be able to cut down a factory one used for so many many years on the original mount

Now, you can help ME, LOL. What specific "Denso" are you using? Brand, part no, year model it's off of, etc.

(Using the word "Denso" is just like saying "General Motors." It's pretty generic)

I knew I was going to get comments on the lack of a spacer and I will be working on that. It is not really tight (see lock washer in photo) at this time so little strain is forced on those upper ears, however the adjusting bolt down low is nice and tight and retaining all of the tension. The Denso alternator is 210-0138. Thanks again!

Thank you. Didn't know if you "were aware." I still run stock Mopar "square back" but have been thinking of going a little more modern

By the way, "way back" in about 75, before Al Gore invented the internet, LOL, I put a Delco integral unit on my 340 which was in my old FJ-40 Landcruiser. Not long after that, I put a Warn "wench" on the front, and (I worked in a parts store) scored one of the late seventies "big frame" 100+ amp Mopars which only needed brushed and bearings.

The Delco came OFF!!! The big Mopar would bury (I had a SW 100A meter) the ammeter
