voltage regulator
Well guys, I thought we had this electrical issue solved! But apparently something is still not 100%....When my son got home from work the other day, I noticed the engine was idling at a higher RPM than normal. And when he came in the house he said he had to get a jump because the trk wouldn't start....So, I was just visually checking everything out and I noticed a fresh goo running down the back firewall coming from behind the voltage regulator. So we went and got another new one... put the new voltage regulator on and all went back to normal (that was 4-days ago) well today I just wanted to check on things and popped the hood and lo and behold the new one is starting to do the same thing again? it hasnt burned out yet, but looks like its headed that way.....per the manual, the wires are all in there proper places....any Ideas??
Thanks...
Thanks...

There are at least three voltage regulators out there.
P3690731 for 1970 and newer
P5690732 for 1971 and newer
P4529794 OE replacement part
Is the VR too close to the engine/exhaust?
If the VR getting enough of a gorund?
Before you go nuts checking voltages and trying to rewire everything, check the output of the alternator, or better, replace it if you have a spare.
