Wonky speedo!

Is there any way to get my instrument cluster out without completely removing my sterring column?

The needle of my speedometer is stuck at 35 mph.

The speedo works, but you always have to subtract 35 from the number. Kinda annoying.

I tried pulling the cluster so I could take it apart, but the column will not drop far enough

Suggestions?

You should be able to just unbolt the column floor plate and the dash bracket without actually removing it - just let the steering wheel rest on the seat

D'OH! I forgot about the floor plate! Ok I got everything out. the steering wheel would not rest on the seat, but I got the column just low enough to get the gauge cluster out.

First thing I noticed, somebody messed with the speedo at some point. the screws were loose and it had clearly been opened.

I was easily able to reposition the needle at 0. Blew out the whole assembly with some air and put it all back together.

Also put the alternator gauge wires on properly, they were reversed.

Now my entire gauge cluster works perfectly.

The speedo bobs a little but I suspect I just have to clean and lube the cable in the housing.

Thanks again for your help. For the help of the whole board really. I do not know what I would do without you guys.
