How much am I saving?

Just curious. You all motivated me to begin restoration of ny 68 Barracuda. I started out knowing nothing at all. With advice, books, and answers here, (the slant six and tranny were long gone), I dropped the suspension, tore the K-frame down to, well, the frame, had it blasted, I painted it, have repainted lots of parts, acquired all new gaskets, and all other suspension pieces (switcing to disc power boost brakes), new torsion bars, all the works and I am enjoying every minute. Last weekend I removed both front fenders and with a heat gun, removed all the undercoating from the fender well area and am working on the frame rails and radiator area (surface rust). Anyone have any idea what this would cost at a body shop at an hourly rate? Thanks for getting me started.

It's a labor of love.. If you had to pay for all the labor it would be astronomical $75K-100K ?

Thanks

That is kind of what I thought. And you are right about the labor of love. For someone who had no idea what he was doing, coming upstairs after hours of work makes me feel good. I love the way this is taking shape. I'm the type that works until I get it right.

You're saving money, but you're also gaining an intimate knowledge and relationship with your car and you can't put a price on that.

haha, you beat me to it. i was going to say almost exactly that. you definitely won't be the guy at a car show who returns a blank stare when asked about certain areas of his ride because he paid some mook to do all the work. and that, friend, is priceless.
