Can someone tell me if this is 170 or 225 Slant Six?
Can someone tell me if this is 170 or 225 Slant Six?
My engine:
I know this engine is in need of TLC... and the carb is SOLEX(!) non-ori... and the brake master cyl is not original either...Oh Ignore the Yellow Motor Oil container (the fuel tank is full of sediments and rust)... but...
Is this a 170 or 225?

Well as far as I can figure your motor has been replaced, if it was a 66 it should be red ( 170 ). You seem to have the teal colour, both the 225 and the 170 were teal in 1960. Can you get a number off the block ? Let us know.
I also see the red under there. I thought (and it's been a long time since I messed with slanties) that the finned valve cover was 170 and the 225 was just a plain flat lid. I could be wrong, but that is what I remember from my "leaning tower of power" days.
Its OFFICIAL... she has the 170
Engine number (under 1st spark plug) :
170 11 24
Casting number on the block (under the manifold)
2463230-1
PS: Anything more I can find out from these two set of numbers?
Cheers
