Not sure why you need to decode the numbers on the trans. Some years came with the VIN stamped in the bellhousing.

Are you trying to figure out what the transmission is out of (if swapped into your car at a later point) or what type of transmission it is?

What motor do you have?

Those look like casting numbers, the auto should have the VIN stamped on the pan rail and the stick should have it on a machined pad on the right side.

i know it's a four speed transmission. but i'm pending a buy on a 383 engine and was wondering if this transmission would work for the engine? the guy says it's a mid to late 60's mopar transmission.

those numbers dont come up with nothing for me, the 1st number should be a 2 or 3, according to my source, if its a 4 spd manual it will fit BB or SB what really matters is the bell housing

Look on the right side of the unit for a pad similar to this with an additional set of #'s on it.
