transmission whining

Hi I am new here, just wondering I have a 68 Barracuda convertible, just rebuilt engine, took it out the other day and noticed a whining noise from my transmission, what could be the problem?

bad -

If you are talking about a "jet engine" like sound in 1st gear on a 727, it's normal. Naturally, make sure the trans fluid is where it should be, etc.

Check fluid level and the condition of the fluid. Can you discribe more in detail the sound, when it happens, what else is going on with the car while the noise is happening? How sure are you that it is the transmission?
