1986 Plymouth Gran Fury swap

Hello everybody,
I recently bought a 1986 Gran fury, and now I’m thinking of swapping its engine, I just want to know if anyone here ever tried that, what engine you put in there, what transmission,
sorry my ignorance, I’m new to all this and I want to know your opinion, is it worth, cause I really like the car, I just want it to go a “little” faster.

oh yeah, the 318s from that era are gutless. if you don't have to smog the thing, just get one from '68 and rebuild it. 230 horses and 340 ft lbs... it'll move that boat nicely.

Welcome.

Asked many time and lots of info on the internet. My thoughts are, you have the Lean Burn system which should be removed and replaced with a good recurved distributor and a 4 barrel manifold and carb if wanted. I would check engine compression when warm, and timing chain loosness, before deciding replace or rebuild. There is a chance you have a roller block which would be a great candidate for a rebuild, With a nice modern cam you could get muscle car performance with good driveability. I would look up Uncle Tony's Garage for videos to answer some of your questions.
