67 Dodge Coronet
I have a 1967 Dodge Coronet 500 with a 383 and edelbrock performer 4 barrel carb. The problem is it won't start unless I prime it with some gas or starting fluid. After I get it going it will start without priming the rest of the day. The next day gotta prime the carb again. The carb is not a junk carb, it has a new fuel pump. It seems that the carb bowl is draining but the fuel inlet line is higher than the bowl. Any ideas?

Is there a place for the bowl to drain on the bottom of the carb bowl? If I remember right, the fuel line inlet is above the carb bowl so it couldn't be draining back down the fuel line. Its an edelbrock performer carb, a Carter AFB copy basically.

toss the mech pump and get an electric pump. make a over ride switch to fill the carb before starting. and a low oil cut off switch. edit: a good pump can even pull fuel from the tank to the engine compartment. an elect pump will save the starter and batt.
