The differences between 1973 318 and 1972 318

I am just want to know is the difference between a 1973 318 and a 1972 318. My uncle did a engine swap in the 80s he does not want to talk about it. I now that the engine is a early 70's engine. Is there any physical ways to tell the engine years apart.

Welcome.

Looked up some stuff and found different P/N's for Pistons and Intake Manifold, likely very little difference just a little juggling of compression ratio and EGR/emissions stuff. Both should still have floating piston pins as P/N's show that changed in 1974.

I could say with confidence that they are virtually identical.
