1980's D150 Help.

Hey guys, So im getting a sweet deal on a 1980's D150 2wd 4 speed slant 6. Now i wanna drop a 440 Big Block, I found 6 of them they all came out of Motor Homes and all have Auto Transmissions. I wanna keep the truck a standard transmission so my big question will the slant 6 trans match and handle the 440? Also anything else i should look out for on this build thanks!

i had a 1982 250 HD. it had a reg 318, i put a 360 in it. when i had the engine out it looked lile it had a front motor mount hole for a big block. free hint: find a salvage yard that will let roam around to tape measure the empty engine compartments. DO get pics. that really helped me when i put a chrysler 392 hemi in a 59 ply.

There is a company called Schumacher that makes motor mounts to put v8 in a slant six application. Also a company that makes trans bellhousings to mate almost any trans to any motor (can't remember the name right now) maybe some one else can chime in if they know what I'm talking about.

You can use the trans you just need a big block bellhousing

The motor mount brackets & oil pan are easy to find as well as the truck manifolds

You will need the P/S brackets for a big block truck the car stuff won't want to clear the frame

The trans is likely a 23 spline OD unit, it might be okay if you don't beat on it. You're going to need a flywheel weighted for the 440 and the crank may or may not be reamed for the needed pilot bushing/bearing. I recall seeing a bushing that fits non-reamed cranks, maybe google it. Sounds like a fun project, good luck and post photos. When you pick out a bell housing make sure the hole for the front bearing support is the correct size, I think the OD diameter was larger than the non OD.
