1987 dodge d100 5.2L

Looking for some help. The truck runs but hard to start as it takes multiple times of cranking but the issue I have is when in idle you can press the gas and it will throttle up fine. When driving of I press the gas the engine try’s to die out until I let off the gas. It looks like the exhaust is straight pipe so no converter is on it. Also a 4 barrel carb was put on it. I am trying to give any relative information about this as possible. Thanks for any ideas.

Check for cracked and leaking vacuum hoses... Check the fuel pressure and mite change the fuel filter.... May need a carb overhaul if the Accelerator Pump is not working correctly. Timing may be an issue also.
