the 383 to 440 swap question
got a 69 d100 and got a great deal on a 440. coming from the world of gm A bodies and engine swaps the mopar world is a little different. more importantly im getting lost in the whole external vs internal balanced 440 and what is needed for the torque converter or flexplate. so if my engine is internally balanced i need to take my converter to a balance shop and tack these little weights on or can i get an externally balanced converter? same for flex plate??? also by looking at the damper how can i tell if its external VS internal balanced?

Welcome.
Internally balanced with nothing on the front snout or rear flange it is balanced on it's own, anything added to the crank must be zero/neutral balanced.
Externally balanced needs a counter weighted harmonic balancer and flywheel/flexplate to balance the engine.
This might help: http://www.440source.com/dampers.htm
