85 w150 slant 6 np435 to 340 a833 help???
Want to swap out the slant 6 and np to the 340 and a833 from my duster i am going to fab my trans mount and have a driveshaft made and ditch the 4wd until i can find a transfer case to mount to the 833 if its possible...
My questions are
Will my a body long tubes fit in the truck?
Is there a t case that fits the a833?
Will v8 factory motor mounts work to mount the 340?
Can i mount my accessories on the 340?
Has anybody done anything like this swap or close to it any tips will be helpful

First I have not done this swap
Get a trans mount from a truck with a 727 trans -should work with the A833
A body exhaust would Not fit without modifications if at all
I have never seen or heard of a transfer case for a A833
Factory motor mounts can be made to fit, they need to be from a V8 truck I think..
You can use your accessories, but you need the V8 brackets

Like TV said - The A-body manifolds won't fit in the truck correctly. You can try and maybe they will work, but I doubt it. You'll need to get a set of small block V8 motor mounts for the 340. Accessories will work but V8 brakets will be needed.
The a833 was a car tranny, they never used it in a truck. You'd have to run a divorsed t-case if you want the 4wd as no t-case will bolt up to the a833 without a custom output shaft and housing.

The exhaust manifolds will depend actually. Trucks run in the middle and so do some car manifolds on one side i forget which. The important one is the driver side manifold which has to be in the middle.
V8 small block mounts for 360 would be best as they are a little thicker and wider. The 318 mount brackets are a little thinner and smaller. They can be made to fit its just a warning. Big block mounts will NOT fit no way no how. If your truck has power steering you need to change the pump OR the pump pulley. The slant 6 uses a larger diameter pully that wont work on the small block.
The slant 6 radiator is however smaller in diameter that the others. The radiator bracket covers half the opening(almost) so if you want to cool the engine properly that would need some work. Aftermarket rad cradles are available.
There is a kit of sorts to put a transfer case housing on a 4 speed transmission. Good luck finding it though. A few other changes such as the wiring harness is something to be looked at. The Haynes book for these trucks has wiring diagrams that are pretty good.

I have a haynes book and it is loaded with stuff... And i think ill just buy a set of mounts for a 360 along with some headers for the truck for a 360? And is there any 4 speed that isnt a 3 speed with granny that can use a t case such as the 208 in mine i want to have the 4wd function eventually but i wanna keep it fast and have over drive for the highway so i think ill fab up the a833 for now so i can bring er down to cruise week in ocean city for some sleeper fun :driving: then ill work on getting my 4wd up and going i have a super poopy flower poker if i need 4wd lol

There are two flavors of NP435 that Dodge used. The "A" has a 4.56 1st gear. The "L" has a 6.68 1st gear. You could always use a NV4500. The 1st gear is 6.34 or 5.61 depending on which one you get but it offers OD. You can usually pick up a 2wd version for pretty cheap as the 4x4 community prefers the 6.34 version.
6.34, 3.44, 1.71, 1, .73, R 6.34
5.61, 3.04, 1.67, 1, .74, R 5.61
