Disk brake swap dana 44
Disk brake swap dana 44
Hey all,
I've wanted to go disks for awhile now. I have an 8 lug dana 44 with drums. The axle is not original to my truck so I'm not clear on what year it is but I'm assuming it's older because it has drums.
I read an online article that basically said it was possible to take parts off a GM dana 44 for the swap to disk. I've lined up a local dana 44 complete for 450$. Looks decent to me. Anyone have an opinion or experience with this swap? Is it straight forward/possible?

I've never done it but have heard of it being done and I think your on the right track. I don't know what Rotors and calipers that need to be used but I'm sure you will need to fabricate the brackets. Possibility the brackets could be removed from a GM axle assembly?
