Long hard day

Figured I'd share my day with you all. Spent most of the day pulling out my steering shaft, steering gear box and center link. I replaced the steering shaft with a new Borgeson unit, replaced the steering gear box with a re-manufactured unit, and put in a new center link as the old one was shot. I'm beat. Getting too old to work this hard, but now the old truck steers like a champ! Now on to the door hinge tomorrow. Old lower driver's side hinge was so worn that a hinge pin kit didn't do the truck. Pulled out the hinge, welded the holes close and re-drilled them and all I have to do is get the hinge put back in and get the door aligned. May have to wait till Saturday though so I can get the wife out there to hold the door up on the jack for me.

It sure made one heck of a difference! Today I replaced my door hinge and got that all realigned, then converted the A/C to r134a. Now I have a drivers side door that closes like it should and cold air, which is a must in Phoenix. Mostly just cosmetic fixes left, and those are minor.

Deathwish, Glad it all worked out for you. Steering boxes are a pain to do. (heavy and a pain to line up the bolts as you hold them up..) BILL
