need to know for 1st gen 360 to magnum swap
Hello to everyone, I am new to this site, and looking for a little advice. I have an 86 w150 with a 727 and 360 that I cannot find an engine for. My question is can I buy a newer model 360fi and use my old 4barrel intake and do a simple swap? Or is there more to it than that? I wasn't planning on changing wiring harness or anything. Just wanting to drop it straight in, change intake and go.is it that easy? I can't seem to find anyone who knows any help will be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks
2th hand info
The intake can be modified, probably cheaper to just buy one on ebay
The timing cover from the LA will work on the Magnum so you can use your accessories
Maybe ?? add a fuel pump
360 balance factor needs to be changed for the 360 magnum--- ????? remove the weight from the torque converter and use the weighted 360 magnum flex plate

You can't really mod a stock intake, not really. The mag bolts go in vertical and would require welding bosses and machining. Expensive
I guess you could swap the timing cover but you would still not have a fuel pump cam. The cams are made different on the mags.
Were are you located? Check out car-part.com. Its a junkyard database and it has proved useful for me in the past looking for parts on our trucks. If your close to TX I have a running 360 out of my 79 with 78k on it Id be willing to let go of.
just get a good electric fuel pump. get a oil pressure switch that cuts the pump off when the engine dies for any reason. and what i call an override switch, to fill the carb before starting. that saves ware and tear on the starter and battery. and only use steel fuel lines. using hose fuel line is VERY dangerous. to me it just shows some one has no auto skill.
