Quick D150 Question (Which Trans?)

Hi y'all. Im fairly new to vintage dodge (trucks), and was considering buying a seemingly well taken care of D150 club cab. It has the original engine/trans and the engine is a 318. Im wondering which trans it would have came with in this configuration? I think one could possibly be a 727, which is what im hoping for. I have a 440 Im rebuilding and would love to stick that in her once its finished, but I wouldnt want to buy a truck with a trans that couldnt accept a big block. Any info as to which transmissions it could have and whether a 440 swap is even possible in that setup would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
- Frank

Welcome. Unfortunately the big and small block bolt patterns are completely different.

Thanks for the reply! I figured as much, but would essentially mean Id need a different bellhousing right? Assuming that's assuming it's a 727? I'm wondering if it happens to not be a 727, what else it could be, and if that could be adapted for a big block.

Nope your going to need a 727 for a big block as the bellhousing is cast with the rest of the transmission.

Also, I believe the transmissions for the club cabs are different lengths than for standard cab trucks. I have a 78 club cab, and it seems like I remember those trannys are actually shorter than a std. cab truck due to the driveshaft center bearing. I think the long assed maxi vans use the same trans...
