Reverse Light Circuit on a 73' W100

Hello all!

I bought a 73' W100 with a manual 4 speed and a 360 out of Texas here just a few weeks ago. Fairly solid truck I can drive and tweak as I go, but the first real problem I'm wanting to tackle is the reverse lights not working. After searching threads on what to expect/ what to look for I think I might have found the issue, but I'm hoping some of you might help shed light on my issue.

One of the first things I read to look for on a 4speed was to ensure I had a good reverse light switch. However, not being familiar with this truck Im not exactly sure, but is the highlighted area the hole where a reverse switch should thread into the housing?

However, not being familiar with this truck I'm not exactly sure, but is the highlighted area the hole where a reverse switch should thread into the housing? It's threaded, and on the left side of the transmission next to the linkage as I've seen it described in other threads, I'm just unsure here.

Running up the frame rail next to the transmission I found this wire connector with a red wire w/black tracer, a black wire, and a green wire w/ white tracer.

Judging from this diagram I got for my series of truck, I believe that wire connector is shown in the diagram as the two little white boxes leading to the reverse light switch. With that being said, and if my diagram is accurate to my truck, Im not sure why a green and white wire can be found down there on that frame rail.

So if I have everything correct, am I just needing to get a reverse light switch, and to make up a few short wires to get back to that plug with? That would still leave the mystery of the random green and white wire... Any help for this guy would be greatly appreciated. Actually any help with any of it will be greatly appreciated!

You could check for power at the wire. Once you have power, try jumping or directly connecting the two wires and see if you have reverse lights. If so, add the switch.
