Rusted Floor Replacement

The floor was a little sponge pulled up the carpet and found a really rusted floor. I have a parts truck so I'm going to cut out the floor and use it they are identical. I don’t know how I should put it the new floor should a cut the rusted one out and leave a ½ in gap and welded the new one in or put black asphalt undercoating on the top of the rusted floor and bottom of the new one and drop in and weld them together and undercoat the underneath of the truck. I thing it might work and it would make the floor strong put I’m unsure cause I thing water might get in and rust both the floors.

Let me know what you thing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Austin

You are going to have to cut the floor back to the point of good material. If you can weld it in, I say do that and then seam seal it and undercoat the bottom. The interior will just use primer and paint.
