That'd be detonation (spark knock); probably has it 30 or 40 degrees advanced.
As far as value of the car, $3k sounds about right for a Coronet 4 dr. (except BB) in the condition described. But this is Colorado, and most everything sells for less here. What matters is whether or not you're attached to the car.
