Hello new to forum and mopar in general. Came here to get advice and help with my brothers 65 dodge dart 270. (Since google doesn't seem much help.)
Dont know if this can be posted here but a couple nights ago the car started to idle really high all of the sudden when in drive. And when I put it in neutral or park it would rev even higher. Also dont know if it is common on these old auto transmissions but when driving and I let go of the gas it would hold the speed a bit, instead of loseing speed like in a normal auto transmission.
Any help on what it could be would really be nice .
Check out the throttle springs then look for a vacuum hose not hooked up, if your still having a fast idle try spraying a little brake cleaner around the motor and see if the idle changes. Does this car have power brakes?
Check the choke pull off and choke fast idle cam. Choke thermostat may have failed. Best checked when cold, but if hot and idling high moving the fast idle cam to the hot position, idle should come down and give you your answer.

OK as far as I can tell hoses seem to be tight and secure.
The linkages on it appear to be loose, unless its supposed to be like that. And the return spring looks a bit stretch out. (Unless it's like that)
In the first photo.... See the step cam with the notches.. when the engine is hot, it should not be on the step cam. Use your finger and move the step cam off the screw and see if it Idles where it is supposed too?
