MORRISON, Colo. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Funny Car at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 32nd annual Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: Melanie Troxel Runs 4.902/192.80, Now #1
Right Lane: James Day No Time, Now #2

5:30 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 91 degrees, relative humidity 20 percent, barometer 24.09 inches, adjusted altitude 9,837 feet, track temperature 106 degrees.

Day was shut off after he backed up from his burnout. Troxel struck the tires just before half track.

Left Lane: Tony Pedregon Runs 8.113/81.35, Now #3
Right Lane: Tim Wilkerson Runs 4.315/289.14, Now #1

Pedregon struck the tires at about 200 feet. A clean pass for Wilkerson.

Capps' engine expired at about 800 feet. Force was trailing heavy smoke in the shutdown area.

Pedregon lost traction at about 150 feet. He pedaled it a couple times before he lifted. A strong pass for Hight.

MORRISON, Colo. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Funny Car at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 32nd annual Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: James Day No Time, Now #14; No Prior Run

7:52 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 88 degrees, relative humidity 29 percent, barometer 24.10 inches, adjusted altitude 9,781 feet, track temperature 79 degrees.

Day did a burnout, was pushed back to the line, and then he was ordered to shut it off.

Left Lane: Jeff Diehl Runs 6.355/114.17, Now #14; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Todd Simpson Runs 4.960/198.88, Now #11; No Prior Run

Diehl was off the throttle at about 200 feet and Simpson lifted at about 700 feet.

Left Lane: Paul Lee Runs 4.526/228.50, Now #9; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Tony Pedregon Runs 7.408/86.43, Now #16; Best prior run: 8.113/81.35, Was #15

Pedregon was up in smoke at about 250 feet. Lee got loose at half track and he almost crossed the centerline at about 900 feet.

Right Lane: Jack Beckman Runs 4.255/294.43, Now #4; No Prior Run

A good looking side-by-side drag race!

Right Lane: Cruz Pedregon Runs 4.095/307.51, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.334/157.54, Was #14

Tasca was up in smoke at the 330-foot mark. Pedregon sets the track elapsed time and speed records with this pass.

Cruz Pedregon's incremental times: 60ft-0.901 sec., 330ft-2.314, 660ft-3.298/262.08 mph.

Troxel struck the tires at about 400 feet and she had to lift. A very good looking pass for Hagan.

MORRISON, Colo. - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Funny Car at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 32nd annual Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: James Day Runs 6.278/113.94, Now #13; No Prior Run

2:55 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 95 degrees, relative humidity 18 percent, barometer 24.24 inches, adjusted altitude 9,897 feet, track temperature 109 degrees.

Day was up in smoke just before the 330-foot mark.

Left Lane: Tim Wilkerson Runs 4.367/281.25, Now #10; Best prior run: 4.315/289.14, Was #10
Right Lane: Tony Pedregon No Time, Now #17; No Prior Run

Pedregon dropped a cylinder or two just past the 330-foot mark. His car moved to the right and he was trailing heavy smoke through the lights. He left some oil on the track so his run doesn't count.

Tim Wilkerson's incremental times: 60ft-0.940 sec., 330ft-2.441, 660ft-3.500/242.06 mph.

Both drivers lost traction around the 330-foot mark. They both tried to pedal through it, but they had to lift when their cars got sideways.

Force started hazing the tires at about 600 feet. Hagan makes a full pull for the best pass of the round.

Left Lane: Robert Hight Runs 5.916/117.90, Now #2; Best prior run: 4.172/300.93, Was #2

Both drivers stuck the tires around the 330-foot mark. Pedregon did a quick pedal job but he was off the throttle again before the finish.

Tasca started to lose traction right at the 330-foot mark. No problems for Capps and he moves on.
