440 head skimming

Im wonder if any of you chaps can help me please and thank you,
I have a 440 with trw l2266 pistons 030 over size.I have a set of nice but stock 452 heads, I wanted to check the compression ratio while I have the heads off and maybe raise it if poss,so I have read your forum here on several threads, done some measuring today as follows below and came up with the comp ratio as is by using a C/R calculator.
The pistons sit 0.085" from the deck and flat top
It appears to me that the cc of 452's is 88-90cc,so I checked to the best of my ability and that seems correct dispite a few different people saying they are 81.5cc. I am using a 0.020" metal mopar head gasket, the bore is 4.350" and the stroke is 3.75", when these figures are put into the c/r calculator comp comes out at 8.9, I think idealy I would be happy with 9.5 so I guessed if I take 0.040" shaved off of the heads this would give me around this figure(9.62) according to the calculator,am I correct please, NOW,if so is it possible to take 0.040 from these heads and NOT have trouble with the pre-load on the lifters or will this amount cause the valves to be open slightly and then having to do more work ie.. shortening the pushrods etc.or how ever you would have to correct the problem,I dont want this extra problem and so what is the max I can shave off before It would interfere with the valve train set up?
I thank you for your comments and advice in advance.
With best regards
Grant

,040 is doable off the heads.Make sure the remove material from the intake side also. The lifters should have enough built in preload to adjust them self. Depending on tolerances about .080 in the lifter ? If they are too tight you could make/buy some shims to space the rocker arm shaft out the .040. They made shims for the LA motor for this. I would suspect they do for the BB also.
Just don't over tighten the bolts on the rocker shafts

Oh Good then, many thanks for your reply,it will run much better if I up the cr wont it?,I mean is it worth doing? Im happy to do it if it is,I have a cam that is the same as in a 1969 383 e series engine and am putting a manual gearbox on it too, using a r154 5 speed from a turbo supra, and thought it would be a good idea to up the comp while I got the heads off,im not any sort of engine tuner though, and hoping this will not maybe mess up the running of it, is it a good idea to do it,I will also trim shave the inlet,I found a forula that says take ,0123" off the inlet for every .010" you take off the heads, Hoping this is correct.
My best regards and thank you

That sounds correct. A 5 sp from a supra ?? That 440 may be too much for it ?? If you can even get it to work

The r154 box is a really strong box, perfect for 400hp,used in twin turbo too,the bellhousing I got is specially made to adapt this box to mopar 440/383 using 11" clutch with hydraulic fork.
