62 Belvedere Fuel Tank Removal and Re-Install
Hey Fellas -- I'm new here and I would appreciate any input. Just bought a 62 Belvedere and I need to drop the tank to clean it. It's a fairly new tank, but pretty sure it has some rust in it.
Here's my question. I released the strap but the stabilizer arm made onto the filler neck is catching and will not allow the neck to come out. Should I remove the grommet/seal where the neck inserts into the tank remove the tank that way? If so, is the grommet/seal reusable when I put the tank back in? Any tips would be appreciated.

Not sure on how it's being removed. The filler tube slides in and out of the tank. Filler tube remains stationary while the tank pulls down away from the tube. Don't remove the filler neck. Those grommets are usually pretty forgiving, but I would get a new one while it's on the ground. MOSTLY....Do not use a drop light. Gas splashed on the bulb has been the ignition for some bad stories. Use a flashlight to look inside the tank. Hope that answers your question.
