Starter motor stays engaged
Hey guys so I recently replaced my starter motor on my 383 and since then when i start the car the starter motor stays engaged for 2-3 seconds after it has cranked over and fired up. Any suggestions on how to solve this?

May be a defective starter, except this symptom would seem rare
Make one test to be absolutely sure it is not electrical (caused by other problems)
Disconnect the battery ground for safety.
At the starter relay, disconnect the wire going to the "square" screw terminal, IE the only screw terminal, not the stud. Pull this wire safely away so that it's not making contact.
Reconnect the battery, turn the key to run, and be absolutely sure the car is in park or out of gear if a stick.
Then crank and start the car by touching this wire to the big stud on the starter relay. If the starter still remains "sticky" as before, turn it in for warranty.
