727 TF In 72 dodge d100 leak?
Where would be the most likely spot where the tranny would be leaking. I have asked a few people and I heard that maybe the shift shaft seal was leaking...I'm no expert so any ideas?
Thanks

Administrator with a large ban hammer !
It can leak from anywhere there is a seal or gasket, Rear seal, linkage point, speedometer assy, pan gasket, front seal. I had a '72 charger that leaked from a crack in the torque convertor hub, this happened more than once with that car. The only real way to find it is to get under there and look for it. Clean the trans up real good, and look for wet spots.

Mother Mopar has a pan gasket Used on later 518 ? Looks like a hard plastic. EXCELENT gasket & won't leak, forget those cork gaskets !!!
Unusual leaks are usually the shifter seal. When the bushing in the valve body gets worn It causes the seal to go also from the movement

Find anything yet? Best to clean with a good solvent. Wash down with brake Clean and let dry. Powder the trans with baby powder and run it for a short time the leak should reveal itself.
As said; there is a seal or gasket, Rear seal, linkage point, speedometer assy, pan gasket, front seal.
Also check the tail shaft housing for a gasket, and under one of the tail shaft bolts, (bottom right looking from the back) there is a pivot pin that is captured by the tail shaft it self. This pin has an o-ring that can fail.
